"Let's call it a date!"

MID-TERMS WERE AS DREADFUL as they sounded. Each day of the week felt longer than usual. At the sound of the Professors fingers tapping against the surface of the wooden podium, a wave of relief washed over the entire auditorium as students began passing their papers to the front of the room. You placed the palm of your hand over your shoulders, waiting for Jean to pass up his set of papers. But instead of baring the weight of a packet, you bared the weight of his hand resting on top of yours.
You turned your head slightly to catch his face in your peripheral vision. A light shade of pink appeared on your cheeks as you furrowed your eyebrows at him disapprovingly. "Your papers."
The freckled boy beside him released a soft sigh before jutting his elbow out to the side to hit Jean. He gave him a semi-stern look, flicking his eyes between his friends face and his papers. "Stand down lover boy, you can hold her hand later."
Your jaw nearly dropped at what the latter had said. You gazed at Marco with a look of slight betrayal in your eyes. His comment only made your cheeks grow hotter. He flashed you a quick apologetic smile before turning to the person in front of him to pass his papers up.
ย ย "I'm so relieved!" Historia pumped her fists up in the air with joy. Her large sparkling blue hues landed on your figure in an instance. She skipped to your side and grabbed your hand. "There's this amusement park a couple hours away from here and since it's the weekend why don't we go there?"
A small crooked smile curled upon your lips. You brought the palm of your hand to the back of your neck, scratching at it softly. "An amusement park? I've never been to one."
Armin and Eren immediately ran up to you with their eyes widened in shock. They looked at you with pity as the duo exchanged glances. The brunette immediately patted your back in a comforting motion; to you it just felt like someone was pounding at your pack really hard. It was a little painful.
"Are you saying you've never been to Disneyland in Japan?!" Armin wore a slightly saddened expression on his face. "Y/N what kind of childhood did you have? It must've been pretty depressing if you couldn't step foot in an amusement park at least once growing up."
Eren nodded in agreement. "Yeah! On a field trip back in middle school we all got to go to an amusement park. Man, your parents must really suck Y/N." He didn't even hesitate to state his opinion.
In response, the blond smacked his friend on the shoulder. He shot him a small glare before turning back to you with a deprecatory smile on his face. "Ignore that idiot. But seriously Y/N, it's so fun! I think you'll enjoy it."
In the background you could hear Jean and Eren bickering. Throwing playful insults left and right. You simply refused to acknowledge it and continued to listen to what both Historia and Armin had to say about this amusement park.
"Bertholdt, make sure to invite Annie! She has to come. We haven't seen her in ages." Historia glared up at the tall slender dark haired boy.
"What?" He choked on his own saliva as his cheeks grew hot. "Why are you asking me to tell her? Why don't you tell her yourself? You have her contact information and everythingโ Besides I barely even see her."
Reiner threw his arm around the taller boys neck causing him to stumble forward. He roughly messed with his hair and chuckled. "Oh come on Bertholdt! We all know you've been seeing her every other day. That's why you're always in a rush at the end of our last class."
Bertholdt's face only grew a darker shade of red. He forced Reiner's arm off of him and stood erect with his arms glued to his sides. "We study together! You can even text Marlowe to confirm that!" He exhaled with exasperation clear in his voice.
"Reiner and I followed you a couple weeks back and saw you holding Annie's hand." Ymir's laughed clearly unconvinced with Bertholdt's claim. She took her phone out of her pocket and brought up a picture that she had secretly taken. The image was a little blurry and in the bottom left corner the top of Reiner's head could be seen.
"You guys are too much." You patted Bertholdt's arm with a sympathetic smile pressed onto your lips. "But do tell- who's this Annie you all speak of? If Bertholdt's dating her that must mean she's a great person right?"
Ymir waved her index finger in front of your face. "She's downright scary. You can ask Eren for confirmation," She lowered her head and whispered. "he and Annie got into a little fight in high school. Annie completely obliterated his ass." She snickered.
"Hey Ymir." Eren's unexpected voice made all your heads turn in his direction, each of your faces filling with shock at the psychopathic look on his face. "It's not nice to be talking shit behind my back."
Ymir straightened her back and stretched her arms up into the air; yawning nonchalantly. "I was revisiting a funny memory in high school. I wasn't talking shit."
Reiner pushed the screen of his phone into your face. The device was currently playing a shaky video displaying the fight between Eren and Annie. At first you couldn't believe it but after seeing Eren's body go flying across the courtyard you were convinced. Behind you, Historia and Armin watched along with you occasionally letting out small giggles.
"Mikasa, stop them!" Eren cried out, attempting to reach for Reiner's phone.
Mikasa merely shrugged before popping another chocolate pretzel stick into her mouth. "You're the one who got cocky in high school resulting in that."
"I mean- come on. Who fights over Cheese Hamburg Steak like that?" Armin's eyes followed the action with his face falling to a dumbfounded expression.
"It's also your fault for stealing her last Cheese Hamburg Steak." Bertholdt rubbed the back of his head, giving the brunette a blank look.
"Oh shut up will you!" He groaned with embarrassment. "I apologized for it but she still beat me to a pulp! I couldn't even get myself to eat a Cheese Hamburg Steak for days. I was traumatized." He shuttered as the memory of him vomiting after being beat up by Annie.
Suddenly you felt an object ricochet off the side of your head. You turned to face the direction in which it came from and narrowed your eyes at the small figure approaching the group.
Levi looked extra moody today. Not that his resting face changed much, but you could see that there were dark circles forming beneath his eyes. Trailing behind him was Hanji Zoรซ, who was talking nonsense into his ear as usual. You admired his patience and felt the corners of your lips tug up as you raised your arm to greet him.
"Tch." The moody Ackerman said, rolling his half-lidded eyes.
Historia looped her arm around yours and leaned her face against your arm. "I'll text you all the information tonight in our group text! We'll go tomorrow since it's Saturday."
Jean looked at you with a saddened expression on his face. Tomorrow was supposed to be the day you both went on your first date. You shot him a small smile and mouthed 'I'm sorry. I can tell her no?'
He shook his head and put his hand in his back pocket. Instead of talking, he pointed at your phone and then he lifted his phone up to his ear. Indicating that he'd call you later to talk about it.
ย ย "We'll just have our first date at the amusement park! We'll ditch the group and go off on our own. Doesn't it sound romantic?" Jean smiled with glee as he spoke to you over the phone.
You nodded, chewing on your lower lip. The thought of going on your first date made your heart flutter. "What if they come looking for us?"
"Then we'll try and avoid them as much as we can." He replied confidently.
"Fine. But let's hang out with them at least for a little okay?" You leaned your head to the side, holding your phone between your face and your shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah. Fine. Now get some rest because going to an amusement park can be draining."
"Uh huh." You responded mid-yawn.
"Goodnight. I love you." Was all he said before quickly ending the call. On the other side of the line Jean was blushing madly, kicking his legs up and down with slight embarrassment.
You on the other hand, felt your heart do a somersault in your chest at his last words. Internally, you were jumping up and down with joy. Falling in love with him was happening so much faster than you had imagined.

The following day the group had gathered at the ticketing booths. You and Jean had arrived thirty minutes late causing the both of you to get scolded by Historia. Although you couldn't be intimidated by her because no matter how hard she tried, she could not stop sounding like an angel.
"We're sorry already, geez!" Jean wrapped his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer to his side. His actions earned an obnoxious reaction from the rest of the group.
Connie marched up to his friend and gave him a hard slap on the back. "Look at you! Did already you have seโ"
You blinked your eyes with a confused smile on your face. "Se...?"
The brunette who held her hair in a ponytail clasped her hand over her soulmates mouth, giving him a look of disapproval. "Shut up Connie! Not all relationships start out with that."
Jean shot him a warning glare causing him to shrink down under his gaze. Without another word Jean took you away from the chaotic group and brought you over the the ticketing booth to purchase your tickets.
"Niccolo." He coughed out catching the attention of the blond who stood behind Sasha. A soft blush appeared on his cheeks. "You sure do love his meat don't you Sasha? Enough to even do it before you even started dating him."
Sasha creased her forehead with agitation. She lifted her foot, kicking the back of his knees. The weak spot that would make anyone knees collapse. A loud gasp escaped the latter's mouth as he tumbled to the ground face first.
Following along with that, Niccolo poured a drop of water over his head. In response Connie scrambled to hit feet; chasing after him. Sasha exhaled with irritation before following the other two who had already gone past the front gates.
Upon entering the gates the princess had already begun planning out their day. Little did she know that you'd be MIA in nearly all of them. She explained passionately pointing at the tallest roller coaster that had the most loops.
In the middle of all her talking you and Jean were able to quietly break away from the group. Fortunately, no one noticed. Or that's what you both had thought.
Armin had caught a glimpse of the two of you. At first he wanted to call out to you and ask you where you were off to. But in the end he had caught on to what you and Jean were trying to do. He sighed slightly disappointed, he was hoping to talk to you some more.
Jean wrapped his hands around your wrists tightly but not to the point where it would hurt you. You struggled to keep up with his long strides, nearly tripping over your own feet every few seconds. Soon enough you were completely out of breath and that's when Jean had stopped walking.
You panted heavily and curled down to your knees. You looked up at your boyfriend who was currently scanning the perimeter with caution, making sure you both weren't being followed. He knew once Connie and Sasha found out that the two of you were missing they'd go on a hunt for you.
"There's no time to rest." He frowned down at you and held your shoulders; bringing you back to your feet. "Those idiots are quick to catch on so we need to be quick."
You took a deep breath before nodding. You took a look around and your eyes were immediately glued onto one of the gift shops that displayed cute headbands and all sorts of adorable things.
"Let's go there." You pointed over at the shop, like a child you were completely drawn to the small building.
Jean took your hand in his and pecked at your cheek. He chuckled, "Sure. Let's go there."
